Companion Crop

Can also be called cover crop. Companion Crops (CC) are crops that are established in a main crop. Examples of companion crops can be blood clover in rapeseed or pea in barley. CC must not compete with the main crop. The purpose of CC is to give something extra to the main crop; this can be N-fix via legumes, shade the weeds, attract useful animals or keep the microorganisms in the soil going.
